Mother Bernle lives with her four sons in Burgendorf, Bavaria. Joseph has a job offer in America and his mother gives him money to help him immigrate. The other three boys enlist in WWI and when America enters the war, Joseph enlists on the other side. After the war is over, and after much hardship and sorrow, Mother Bernle goes through Ellis Island herself. 100m/B DVD .
