Fay Grim ★★ 2006 (R)

Hartley's sequel to 1998's “Henry Fool” follows the misbegotten adventures of Henry's estranged wife Fay (Posey). Henry's been on the lam for years, but CIA op Fulbright (Goldblum) suddenly turns up and informs Fay that A) Henry's dead; B) Henry was in the CIA; C) his notebook memoirs are actually coded secrets; and D) Fay needs to retrieve them from Paris. So Fay agrees, heads off to Europe, and discovers much chicanery, eventually winding up among terrorists in Istanbul. Posey's game but the elaborate, international thriller spoof of a plot is hard to swallow (or follow). 118m/C DVD . US GE Parker Posey, Jeff Goldblum, James Urbaniak, Liam Aiken, Saffron Burrows, Elina Lowensohn, Leo Fitzpatrick, Chuck Montgomery, Thomas Jay Ryan; D: Hal Hartley; W: Hal Hartley; C: Sarah Crawley Cabiya.
