Demonlover ★½ 2002

Big business meets the high-stakes game of high tech Internet pornography and results in a confusing, unnecessarily violent thriller. Nielsen plays Diane, a corporate spy acting as an assistant to Henri-Pierre Volf (Malartre), the head of multinational conglomerate VolfGroup. VolfGroup threatens to take over TokyoAnime, producers, of revolutionary, animated 3-D smut, which sparks rival companies Mangatronics and Demonlover to get nasty. Nasty, pretty much sums up just about all the characters and the rest of the action throughout, led by the particularly immoral Diane. Characters are totally devoid of sympathy while the plot begins to totally unravel halfway through. 120m/C VHS, DVD . FR Connie Nielsen, Charles Berling, Chloe Sevigny, Gina Gershon, Dominique Reymond, Jean-Bapiste Malartre; D: Olivier Assayas; W: Oliver Assayas; C: Denis Lenoir; M: Sonic Youth.
