Dead Funny
Dead Funny ★★ 1994 (R)
Vivian (Pena) returns to her Manhattan walk-up to find boyfriend Reggie (McCarthy) dead on her kitchen table, skewered by a Samurai sword. Instead of calling the police, Viv gets gal pal Louise (Turco) to come over to figure out who did Reg in. Instead, they get drunk and discuss Reggie's (who seen in flashbacks) immaturity and penchent for practical jokes. Good performances, twist ending, but situation runs out of steam. 91m/C VHS . Elizabeth Pena, Andrew McCarthy, Paige Turco, Blanche Baker, Lisa Jane Persky, Michael Mantell; D: John Feldman; W: John Feldman; M: Sheila Silver.
