Up Close and Personal ★★★ 1996 (PG-13)

They fall in love but find their careers clashing as Tally climbs the media success ladder. Originally inspired by the tragic life of NBC reporter Jessica Savitch, whose problems with drugs and abusive relationships led to a sad ending, film turned into a starpowered romance with media trappings and another variation of “A Star is Born.” It's now “suggested” by Alanna Nash's book “Golden Girl.” 124m/C VHS, DVD .
