Batman Begins ★★★ 2005 (PG-13)

They got rid of the Batnipples? Joel Schumacher will be so disappointed. Fortunately for everyone else, Nolan rejects the other Batsequels' lame campiness and returns Batman to his gritty roots, showing us how a young Bruce Wayne (Bale) first became the Caped Crusader. After training abroad with the mysterious Ducard (Neeson) and Ra's Al Ghul (Watanabe), Wayne begins his oneman war on crime with the help of his butler Alfred (Caine), good cop Jim Gordon (Oldman), and techsavvy Lucius Fox (Freeman). The cast is beyond stellar, and Nolan does an amazing job of making Batman's world seem almost plausible. There's a bit too much angsty pondering about the nature of fear, but you'll forget all that once you see the Lamborghiniinspired Batmobile. 141m/C DVD, Bluray Disc, UMD, HD DVD .
