Autumn Leaves ★★½ 1956

Crawford plays a middle-aged typist grasping at her last chance for love. She marries a younger man who's been romancing her, then finds him more and more unstable and violent. Weak story material that could turn melodramatic and tawdry, but doesn't because of Crawford's strength. 108m/B VHS . Cliff Robertson, Joan Crawford, Vera Miles, Lorne Greene; D: Robert Aldrich; W: Robert Blees, Lewis Meltzer, Hugo Butler, Jean Rouveral; C: Charles B(ryant) Lang Jr. Berlin Intl. Film Fest. '56: Director (Aldrich).
