Spanish singer and actress. Name variations: Sara Montiel. Born María Antonia Abad Fernández in Campo de Criptana, Ciudad Real, Spain, on March 10, 1928; married Anthony Mann (a film director), in 1957 (annulled 1963).

Popular in the Spanish-speaking world as a singer and actress, Sarita Montiel appeared in numerous movies in her native Spain and in Mexico beginning in the 1940s. She made four Hollywood films during the 1950s, including That Man from Tangier (1953), Vera Cruz (1954), Serenade (1956), and Run of the Arrow (1957), in which her voice was dubbed by Angie Dickinson . After returning to Spain in 1957 she had her greatest success on screen with the hugely popular El Último Cuplé. She was married that same year to director Anthony Mann (the marriage would end in 1963) and appeared on stage and on television throughout the 1980s.
