Canadian skater who was the first Canadian woman to win an Olympic gold medal in speedskating. Born Catriona Le May in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on December 23, 1970; married Bart Doan (a rodeo rider).

Was Saskatchewan Female Athlete of the Year (1994); won gold and silver medals in the 500 meters at the World Sprint championships (1996); won the silver medal at the World Sprint championships (1997); won the gold medal in the 500 meters and the bronze in the 1000 meters at the Nagano Olympics (1998).

Catriona Le May Doan was the first Canadian woman to win a gold medal in speedskating. In 1998, in Nagano, the 5′7″ skater won the gold medal in the 500 meter race in 1:16.60. She also took a bronze medal in the 1000 meters with a new Olympic record of 1:17.37; Marianne Timmer broke the same record a few minutes later with a 1:16.51 for the gold medal. USA's Chris Witty finished second.
