Iselda, Lady (fl. 12th c.)

Provençal troubadour. Flourished in the 12th century in Provence.

Iselda was a Provençal troubadour about whom very little is clear. She was one of the writers of an unusual tenson with two other women, Alais and Carenza . Possibly Iselda and Alais were considering becoming nuns, for they ask Carenza if she recommends marriage, which she emphatically does not. This humorous anti-marriage poem is the only known work written by Iselda.
