Romanian gymnast. Name variations: Kati Szabo; Ekaterina Szabo. Born Jan 22, 1966, in Zagon, Romania; m. Christian Tamas (rower), 1991.
Won Jr. European championships (1980, 1982), Chunichi Cup (1980), Ennia Cup (1982), Romanian International (1983, 1985), Balkan championships (1984), and Europeans (1987); at Los Angeles Olympics, won a silver medal in indiv. all-around and gold medals in balance beam, team all-around, floor exercises, and vault (1984); at World championships, won a team gold (1987); retired (1987) and turned to coaching. Inducted into International Gymnastics Hall of Fame (2000).
