Made London debut as Grushenka in The Brothers Karamazov (1946), followed by The Other Side, Angels in Love, The Remarkable Mr. Pennypacker, South Sea Bubble, The Sound of Murder, A Friend Indeed, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (title role), and The Italian Girl, among others; appeared with Shakespeare Memorial Theatre Company (1960–61); made film debut in Floodtide (1948); other films include 55 Days in Peking, The Chalk Garden, The Barefoot Contessa, Desiree, Prince of Players, The Mummy's Shroud and The Hireling.
