Powell, Louise Mathilde (1871–1943)
American nursing educator. Born Mar 12, 1871, in Staunton, VA; died Oct 6, 1943, near Brownsburg, VA; dau. of Hugh Lee Powell and Ella (Stribling) Powell.
Served as superintendent of nurses at St. Luke's Hospital in Richmond, VA (1899–1904); enrolled in graduate nursing program of Columbia University Teachers College (1908); was superintendent of University of Minnesota School of Nursing (1910–24) and acting superintendent of University of Minnesota hospital (1918–19); was dean of Western Reserve University School of Nursing (1924–27).
