O'Donnell, May (1906–2004)

American modern dancer, teacher and choreographer. Born May 1, 1906, in Sacramento, CA; died Feb 1, 2004, in New York, NY; m. Ray Green (composer).

Was a principal dancer with Martha Graham company (1932–38) and guest artist (1944–53), creating the Pioneer woman in Appalachian Spring (1944) and the Earth in Dark Meadow and the Chorus in Cave of the Heart (both 1946); choreographed the classic Suspension (1943); was a choreographer (1937–88) and taught for many years.
