Made NY stage debut in Loose Moments (1935); among numerous Broadway roles, appeared as Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn in The Music Man (1965) and Jenny in The Front Page (1969); film credits include Our Town, Mr. Belvedere Rings the Bell, Seven Year Itch, Man with the Golden Arm, The Cardinal, Kiss Me Stupid and Hurry Sundown; also appeared frequently on tv, with recurring roles in 2 series "Bringing Up Buddy" and "That Was the Week That Was."
