Duchess of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksberg. Name variations: Princess Louise Caroline von Hessen-Cassel. Born Louise Charlotte in Gottorp, Schleswig, Germany, on September 28, 1789; died in Ballenstadt on March 13, 1867; daughter of Charles of Hesse-Cassel, regent of Schleswig-Holstein, and Louise of Denmark (1750–1831); married Frederick William, duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksberg, on January 26, 1810; children: Frederick, duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksberg; Christian IX (1818–1906), king of Denmark (r. 1863–1906).
