Lane, Maryon (1931–)
South African ballet dancer. Born Feb 15, 1931, in Melmouth, South Africa; attended Sadler's Wells Ballet school in England.
Performed with Sadler's Wells, and its successor, the Royal Ballet, for entire performing career; appeared in numerous works by Kenneth Macmillan, including Laiderette (1954), Danses Concertantes (1955), House of Birds (1955) and Solitaire (1956); created roles for Ashton in Les Rendez-vous (1947) and Valses Nobles et Sentimentales (1947); appeared in premieres of Cranko's Children's Corner (1948) and Pineapple Poll (1951); taught at Royal Ballet school and London Ballet Centre.
