Holland, Joan (c. 1380–1434)

Duchess of York. Born around 1380; died on April 12, 1434; daughter of Thomas Holland, 2nd earl of Kent, & Alice Fitzalan (1352–1416); sister of Eleanor Holland (c. 1385–?), Elizabeth Holland (c. 1383–?), Alianor Holland (c. 1373–1405), and Margaret Holland (1385–1429); became second wife of Edmund of Langley (c. 1380–1434), duke of York, in 1393.

Joan Holland, duchess of York, appears in Shakespeare's Richard II. She was born around 1380, the daughter of Thomas Holland, 2nd earl of Kent, and Alice Fitzalan , and became the second wife of Edmund of Langley, duke of York, in 1393. Edmund's first wife was Isabel of Castile (1355–1392).
