Hayashi, Kyoko (1930–)
Japanese novelist. Born 1930 in Nagasaki, Japan.
Lived in Shanghai, China (1931–45), but returned to Nagasaki just before the dropping of atomic bomb; writings, which describe devastation of radiation sickness and dangers of nuclear power, include The Ritual of Death, Round Dance, and Home in This World. Received Gunzo Prize for a New Writer and Akutagawa Prize (1975).
