Danish equestrian. Name variations: Lis Hartel-Holst; Liz Hartel. Born Mar 14, 1921, in Denmark.
Stricken with polio (1944); finished 2nd at the Scandinavian Riding championship (1947); though paralyzed below the knees, won a silver medal for indiv. dressage on Jubille at Helsinki Olympics (1952), the 1st year women were allowed to compete, and at Melbourne Olympics (1956).
