George, Carolyn (1927–)

American ballet dancer and photographer. Born Sept 6, 1927, in Dallas, TX; m. Jacques D'Amboise (ballet dancer).

Trained with Lew and William Christensen at school of San Francisco Ballet in CA; joined company of New York City Ballet where she danced in Balanchine's Bourée Fantasque and Stars and Stripes to great acclaim; performed in numerous company premieres, including Jerome Robbins' Fanfare (1953) and William Dollar's The Five Gifts (1953); worked as photographer, specializing in dance, upon retiring from performance career.
