Born c. 1859 or 1860, in Melbourne, Australia; died Feb 22, 1903, in Rotorua, New Zealand; dau. of George Connon (carpenter) and Helen (Hart) Connon; Canterbury College, BA, 1880; m. John Macmillan Brown, 1886; children: 2 daughters.
First woman to attend and graduate from Canterbury College (1880); taught at Christchurch Girls' High School while still a student (1878), and served as principal (1882–94).
