Norwegian novelist. Born Adolphine (also seen as Adolfine) Marie Schmidt at Christiania, Norway, Dec 18, 1814; died 1884.
At 36, a widow without resources, moved to Paris; wrote stories in her own language (1869–81); published 7 vols. of tales, including Tre Noveller (1873), Tre nye Noveller (1875), Jeg lever (1877) and Cleopatra (1880).
