New Zealand tribal leader. Name variations: Te Paea. Born Te Paea, 1877 or 1878 (baptized, Nov 17, 1878), near Whangarei, New Zealand; died Sept 30, 1937, in Ngararatunua, New Zealand; dau. of Hemi Tonoriri Kingi and Akinihi Ngaro Brown; m. Wiremu Hone Cherrington (Keretene), 1898; children: 6 sons.
Valuable consultant in resolution of land disputes; protected spiritually significant sites; active in numerous Anglican groups, which addressed health and welfare issues.
