Caroline of Nassau-Usingen (1762–1823)

Landgravine of Hesse-Cassel. Name variations: Caroline Polyxena of Nassau-Usingen. Born Caroline Polyxene on April 4, 1762; died on March 28, 1823; daughter of Charles William, prince of Nassau-Usingen, and Caroline Felizitas of Leiningen-Heidesheim (b. 1734); married Frederick III, landgrave of Hesse-Cassel, on December 2, 1786; children: eight, including William, landgrave of Hesse-Cassel (1787–1867); Mary of Hesse-Cassel (1796–1880, who married George, grand duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz); Augusta of Hesse-Cassel (1797–1889, who married Adolphus Guelph, 1st duke of Cambridge).
