Bryan Allen

1952-

American aviator who developed human-powered-flight techniques. A pilot and a bicyclist, Allen used pedals to power the Gossamer Condor. He won the first Kremer Prize in 1977. Allen next flew the Gossamer Albatross across the English Channel. His aircraft have also run on stored energy that he physically produces. He has set distance, duration, and speed records for human-powered aircraft and blimps. The Gossamer Condor is now displayed at the National Air and Space Museum.
