orthopyroxene (opx) A series of pyroxenes which crystallize in the orthorhombic system. They consist of the enstatite (MgSiO3) and ferrosilite (FeSiO3) endmembers, with a number of other minerals between, including bronzite, hypersthene, and eulite.
