Microsporidea (phylum Protozoa, subphylum Cnidospora) A class of protozoa which live parasitically inside the cells of a wide range of invertebrates and some lower vertebrates. There is one order, divided into two suborders. The class includes Nosema, species of which cause diseases of economic importance in silk-worms and honey-bees.
