Ipnopidae (subclass Actinopterygii, order Myctophiformes) A small family of deep-sea fish that have a very slender body, flat head with protruding lower jaw, and peculiar yellow eyespots directed dorsally. There are about five species, distributed world-wide, some at depths of 1000–2000 m.
