Francisella A genus of bacteria not assigned to a taxonomic family. The cells are ovoid to variable in shape, Gram-negative, and non-motile. They are chemo-organotrophic, and can grow only in the presence of air. They are found, for example, as parasites or pathogens on animals, including humans.
