Codium (division Chlorophyta) A genus of siphonaceous green seaweeds; the thallus is dichotomously branched, round in cross-section, thick, and spongy in texture. C. tomentosum occurs on sea shores in southern England; other species occur in the Mediterranean and Atlantic.
