Catherine's moss The common name for the moss Atrichum undulatum (order Polytrichales). The shoots are erect, up to 10 cm tall. The leaves are dark green, long and narrow, with characteristic transverse undulations, and toothed margins. The capsule is cylindrical, and curved, with a long beak on the lid. The moss is found on the ground in woods, also on heaths and waste ground.
