Calliphoridae
Calliphoridae (bluebottles, greenbottles, blow flies; order Diptera, suborder Cyclorrapha) Large family of medium-sized to large flies whose larvae are saprophages or carnivores. The family includes the subfamily Calliphorinae, insects that are often metallic blue or green, with a markedly plumose arista; many species are important as pests, disease-carriers, or bloodsuckers. The Sarcophagidae is sometimes regarded as a subfamily (Sarcophaginae) of the Calliphoridae. More than 1000 species are known.
