SILVA, JOSHUA DA
SILVA, JOSHUA DA (d. 1679), English rabbi. Da Silva, who was born and trained in Amsterdam, was appointed haham of the Sephardi synagogue in London in 1670, serving also as ḥazzan and teacher. His sermons, Discursos Predycaveys (Amsterdam, 1688), published by his widow, contain valuable material for the social history of the Jews in London.
