CLEOMEDES°

CLEOMEDES ° (second century c.e.), author of an astronomical work permeated with Stoic concepts. Cleomedes mentions the Jews in passing when deprecating the vulgar idiom employed by Epicurus. He compares the Greek – vulgar but apparently good – spoken by the Jews with the language of the brothels and that common among women celebrating the Thesmophoria.
