Shaliaḥ
Shali'aḥ (Heb., ‘messenger’). Jewish emissary. The term is a synonym for Meshullaḥ. In the rabbinic period emissaries were sent from Erez Israel to communities in the diaspora, often to raise funds for charitable institutions.
