Théodore Simon Jouffroy (tāôdôr´ sēmôN´ zhōōfrwä´), 1796–1842, French philosopher. He was professor at the Collège de France and librarian at the Univ. of Paris. His translations of Thomas Reid and Dugald Stewart spread the influence of the Scottish school of philosophy. His writings stressed the distinction between psychology and physiology. He was influenced by Victor Cousin. His works include Cours de droit naturel (1835), Mélanges philosophiques (1833), and Cours d'esthétique (1843).
