Great Neck
Great Neck, village (1990 pop. 8,745), Nassau co., SE N.Y., on the north shore of Long Island, a primarily residential suburb of New York City; settled c.1634, inc. 1921. It has diverse light and high-technology industries. The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy is in nearby Kings Point. F. Scott Fitzgerald lived in Great Neck and based The Great Gatsby on the area.
