YEDIOT AHARONOT (Hebrew for "latest news")
Israeli daily newspaper. Founded in 1939 by the Moses family who remain its owners, the Yedioth Aharanot is a truly independent newspaper that has remained free of constraints despite any current government. Its politics are considered to be center-right with a tendency to support the Labor Party. In September 1995 the editor-in-chief was forced to resign after it was revealed that he was involved in an incident of telephone-tapping that included directors of another daily newspaper, the Maʿariv.
