General People's Committees
GENERAL PEOPLE'S COMMITTEES
Libya's ruling cabinet.
The General People's Committees were established in March 1978 in Libya when Muammar al-Qaddafi and the other members of the ruling Revolutionary Command Council formally renounced their government positions. Exercising executive powers, the General People's Committees have a function equivalent to ministerial cabinets.
