Made with walnuts and concentrated pomegranate juice, muhammara is seasoned with hot red pepper and cumin. It is a Syrian specialty commonly associated with the cuisine of Aleppo. It is served as an appetizer, as part of a mazza, or as a condiment with a meat dish.
