Joyous Gard
Joyous Gard the castle of Lancelot in Arthurian legend. It is situated somewhere in the north, and Malory says it has been variously identified as Alnwick or Bamburgh (near Berwick-on-Tweed). Tristram once keeps Iseult there for three years; after Lancelot has to surrender Guinevere it is renamed ‘Dolorous Gard’.
