Inkatha
Inkatha South African political organization, founded (1975) by Chief Buthelezi to represent South Africa's Zulu population. Its initial aim was to work towards a democratic, non-racial political system, but it was accused of complicity with the apartheid regime. In the early 1990s, Inkatha was involved in violent conflict with the African National Congress (ANC). In terms of representation, it ranks third among political parties. Its strongest base is in KwaZulu-Natal.
