Full name, Robert Joseph Primes; born January 10, 1940, in San Francisco, CA; mother, a homemaker; father, in sales; married Theodora Carras (a pianist). Education: Attended Reed College and the University of California; trained at San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Cinematographer and director. Worked as a still photographer, camera operator, and documentary filmmaker; filmed music videos for Fleetwood Mac, Pat Benatar, Patti Labelle, Twisted Sister, and other recording artists; filmed commercials and industrial films. Instructor at the University of California, Los Angeles, North Carolina School of the Arts, University of Texas, and International Film Workshops. Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, member of a committee on high definition television formatting. Cofounder of Cosmopolitan Film Associates and worked at a camera store in San Francisco, CA. Also known as Bob Primes.
