Full name, Gary James Kemp; born October 16, 1959, in Islington, London, England; son of Frank (a printer) and Eileen Kemp; brother of Martin Kemp (an actor and musician); married Sadie Frost (an actress; also known as Sadie Liza Vaugman), May 7, 1988 (divorced, 1997); married Lauren Barber (a costume designer), August 30, 2003; children: (first marriage) Finlay Munro; (second marriage) Milo Wolf. Education: Studied acting at the Anna Scher Theatre, London. Avocational Interests: Outdoor activities, art, literature, politics, Ireland, soccer.

Career: Actor, musician, and composer. Spandau Ballet (musical group previously known as the Makers and as Gentry), founder, 1981, coleader, musician, and songwriter, 1981–90; record producer for other artists; affiliated with the Axiom design movement. Worked as a clerk for the Financial Times.

Awards, Honors: Nominated for Whatsonstage.com Choice Award, best supporting actor in a play, c. 2006, for The Rubenstein Kiss; Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) Award (with Spandau Ballet), for three million broadcasts on American radio of the song "True."
