LaRue A. Ditmore Music Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To financially assist students with their educational pursuits. Focus: Maritime studies. Qualif.: Applicant must have served, or be serving in the U.S. Marine Corps or Reserve; or a direct descendant by blood, or legal adoption or stepchild of a Marine on active duty, or who has served in the U.S. Marine Corps, Regular or Reserve; or a sibling or a descendant of a sibling by blood, or legal adoption or stepchild of a Marine on active duty, or who has served in the U.S. Marine Corps, Regular or Reserve; or have completed two years in a Marine Corps JROTC program. High school applicant must have maintained a B+ average for the sophomore or junior years; have a SAT score of 1100 (combined Math/Verbal); have an ACT score of 25 (combined Math/Verbal). College students must have a GPA of 3.5. Applicant must have a WMA member sponsor. Criteria: A selection board of five members will review qualified applications.

Funds Avail.: $1500. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application form together with a copy of Sponsor's National Membership Card; a wallet size photo (name written on lower back); three letters of reference from a school personnel (on official letterhead signed and sealed envelope); proof of relationship to a U.S. Marine; and a permanent and alternate Email addresses. High school students must also send official transcripts (mailed directly from the school) and a letter of acceptance for the following year. College freshmen students must send an additional official final high school transcript (including SAT/ACT scores) and current college transcript. Remarks: Male applicants must submit a proof of draft registration when applying on or after their eighteenth birthday.
