Larry Acterman Public Education Awards (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support outstanding students in pursuing a career as a public school teacher. Focus: Education. Qualif.: Applicants must: be a high school senior graduating from the Long Beach Unified School District; plan to enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited four-year public college or university in the state of California to attain a degree and a teaching credential; demonstrate outstanding scholastic ability and a determination to graduate from college and become a public school teacher, Financial need will be considered as well. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Funds Avail.: $2,000. To Apply: Interested applicant may download an application from the Foundation's website. in a maximum one-page essay, write about any one of the following topics: Your interest in becoming a public school teacher; The importance of a strong public education system for society and democracy; How you would improve public schools and/or public education in California. Frank and Ruth Bila Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: to provide scholarship to the students currently pursuing a career in the restaurant/hotel management field. Focus: Hotel, institutional, and restaurant management. Qualif.: Applicant must: be a full-time student and have maintained a GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 for the preceding two years of high school or college; be a United States citizen; an outstanding student between the ages of 17 and 30 years old. Criteria: Selection will be based on financial need.

In a maximum of 250 words, write abut our academic interests, educational plan, and the way in which your educational plan is appropriate to your situation, abilities and long-term goals. Lee Brennan Memorial Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarship opportunities to the eligible undergraduate students. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must: be a graduating senior from Aliso Miguel High School, who is active in athletics or an active participant of a US Diving Southern Pacific Association Diving Team (please make sure to include this information in the application form); be a student who plans to enroll full-time at an accredited college or university and students who enroll in trade schools, for careers such as law enforcement, fire fighting, auto or computer repair, etc.; have at least a C average GPA. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Funds Avail.: $2,000. Number Awarded: 1-2. To Apply: Interested applicant may download an application from the Foundation's website. Applicant must also submit a 350-word essay describing the following: How athletics have influenced your life; Your academic plan and ways in which your plan is appropriate to your situation, abilities and long-term goals; Any special circumstances which have impacted or may impact your academic performance, community service or leadership activities. Case-Swayne Company Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To help local students, with financial difficulties, continue their education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must: be high school seniors who are graduating from Santa Ana or Corona-Norco School Districts; must be students wishing to enroll full-time at an accredited two-or four-year college, university, or vocational/trade school; must demonstrate outstanding scholastic ability and/or leadership, financial need and determination to graduate from college. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Brad Evans Memorial Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To assist talented and versatile students with first year expenses at the University of California, Berkeley. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must: be Orange County high school graduating seniors who are attending school in the Newport Mesa Unified School District; have been accepted to an accredited program at the University of California, Berkeley; have demonstrated record of community service and leadership; have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Criteria: Selections will be based on the committee's criteria.

Funds Avail.: $3,000. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit 250 words containing academic interests and educational plan (must be appropriate to situation, abilities and long-term goals). Applicants must completely fill out and sign the attached application. Applicants must submit official transcript of records; 2 letters of recommendation sealed and signed by the writer across the seal. Submit the following to the Foundation in one large envelope: Original plus two copies of your application and essay; Two letters of recommendation, each still sealed; Official Transcript of Grades. MacPherson Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To help local youth pursue vocational, technical or advanced education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must: be a high school senior graduating from an Orange County high school or attending an accredited Orange County community college; have a minimum 2.5 GPA; demonstrate financial need; be planning to attend an accredited job training or community college. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Funds Avail.: $500-$5,000. To Apply: Interested applicant may download an application from the Foundation's website. Applicant must write at least one page, typed and double-space, answering the following questions: What are your career goals and how do you plan to reach those goals; Describe any classes that you have taken or accomplishments you have achieved that will help you realize your goals; Describe any special circumstances that you have experienced and how they have helped or deterred you from realizing your goals; Where do you picture yourself in five years; Please explain why it is important for you to receive this award. New Opportunities Through Retraining Scholarship Fund (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To assist people who have decided to make a change for the better, through education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be: male or female, over the age of 25 years old; interested in improving job and/or educational skills; already applied to, or will apply to, a local junior college, vocational/trade school, or four-year college or university. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Funds Avail.: $1,500. Number Awarded: 3. To Apply: Applicant must submit an essay answering to the following question with a brief paragraph: Please describe your current financial status; What impact will this scholarship have on your situation; What type of retraining or education do you seek and why; How will retraining and furthering your education assist you in accomplishing your long-term goals. Answers must be typed and double-spaced, with the applicant's full name appearing in the upper right hand corner on all pages that are attached. Deadline: March 28.

Orange County Centennial Academic Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To award scholarship to the students who are residents of Orange County. Focus: Genera studies. Qualif.: Applicants must: be local high school graduating seniors who are residents of Orange County, California, and who are completing their last three years of high school in the county; be students who are planning to enroll full-time at an accredited college or university; be outstanding students, with a combined math, writing, and critical reading SAT score of at least 2100 and who have also demonstrated a record of community service and leadership in the area. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Funds Avail.: $2,500. Number Awarded: 6. To Apply: Interested applicants must include in their application a 250 words or less essay. Orange County Centennial Arts Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To award scholarship to the students who are residents of Orange County. Focus: Performing arts; Visual Arts; Theater arts; Music. Qualif.: Applicants must: be local high school graduating seniors who are residents of Orange County, California, and who are completing their last three years of high school in the county; be students who are planning to enroll full-time at an accredited college or university and majoring in the arts. Example of acceptable majors include: dance, voice, opera, theater arts, musical theater, visual arts and music; demonstrated record of community service and leadership. particular attention will be given to training, honors and achievements in the arts. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Orange County Centennial Certification Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To award scholarship to the students who are residents of Orange County. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must: be local high school graduating seniors who are residents of Orange County, California and who are completing their last three years of high school in the county; be students who are planning to enter the work force after completing a two-year vocational program; have a demonstrated record of community service and leadership in the area. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Orange County Tourism Council Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To assist people who have decided to make a change for the better, through education. Focus: Travel and tourism. Qualif.: Applicant must: be male or female age 18 or over; be enrolled or accepted transfer student to California State University, Fullerton; be an Orange County resident; have demonstrated employment in the entertainment/tourism industry, either full-time, part-time or seasonally; Intent to pursue a career in the entertainment/tourism industry; have a minimum of 2.5 GPA. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria

Margaret E. Oser Scholarships for Women (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarship to the women with high academic ability and significant financial need. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must: be enrolled at an accredited Orange County community college at the time of application; have completed at least 12 units of academic work, that are transferable to the California College or university system, within the previous two semesters; have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA in the transferable course-work; have identified a possible educational focus and have obtained a written recommendation from an instructor in that field. If selected for this program, demonstrate ability and intent to earn a bachelor's or advanced degree as a full-time student. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Funds Avail.: $6,000. Number Awarded: 3-4. To Apply: Interested applicant may download an application from the Foundation's website. Applicant must also write a maximum of 350 words essay in each of the following: Your academic plans, if you were to receive this stipend through your college graduation; Ways in which your strategy is appropriate to your situation, abilities and long-term goals; a difficult obstacle you have had to overcome in life and how you responded to the challenge. D.R. Segal Memorial Scholarships for Journalistic Excellence (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarship to the students interested in pursuing a career in journalism. Focus: Journalism. Qualif.: Applicants must be Orange County high school graduating seniors or current college students wishing to pursue a career in journalism. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Funds Avail.: $2,000. Number Awarded: 4. To Apply: Interested applicant may download an application from the Foundation's website. As an attachment to your application, write about your father and how he has influenced your life. The essay should be a maximum of one page, typed and double-spaced. Deadline: March 28. Mark P. Tiner Education Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: to provide graduating seniors with substantial financial assistance to pursue their undergraduate degree. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must; be Orange County seniors from public and private high schools; have a minimum GPA of at least a 3.75; plan to enroll in a 4-year accredited college or university and fulfill one of the requirements during their senior year of high school; demonstrate financial need. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

James L. Warner Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to students that graduated from the Whittier Union High School district. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Students must have attended on the following high schools in the Whittier Union High School: California High School, Santa Fe High School, Whittier High School, Frontier High School or Pioneer High School. Students must plan to attend on w of the following colleges: Pomona College, Whittier College, University of Southern California; Stanford University or any campus of the University of California system. Students must demonstrate financial need. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Funds Avail.: $1,000-$2,000. To Apply: Interested applicant may download an application from the Foundation's website. A minimum of a one-page, typed, double-spaced essay should address the following: what are your goals in college; Describe your service to your school and community; Explain why you should be awarded this scholarship; How you have benefited from attending high school; Describe any special family or personal circumstance that has affected your achievement in school, work or your participation in school or community service. Charles H. and Ethel E. Wolfe Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To award scholarship to the undergraduate student who is an Orange County resident. Focus: Genera studies. Qualif.: Student must: be recommended by the principal of the high school from which the student is graduating; demonstrate high scholastic achievement, financial need, and community involvement; proceed to enroll and study at a non-profit institution of higher learning within the continental United States. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.
