Gregory D. Johnson Memorial Scholarships (Graduate, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide a network uniting purebred swine enthusiast through a youth organization. Focus: Agricultural economics. Qualif.: Applicant must be a spring college graduate with a bachelor’s degree in an agricultural field or a current graduate student pursuing a master’s or doctorate degree in swine genetics, swine reproduction or swine nutrition. Criteria: Applications will be scored by a committee and shall independently review and score each application received and select the recipient(s) based on the their criteria.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. To Apply: Applicant must enclose one letter of recommendation from a college advisor who can verify participant’s graduate school acceptance or enrollment, in addition to their college activities and involvement; Applicants must submit graduate school acceptance letter or proof of graduate school enrollment. The Maschhoffs Inc. Pork Production Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide a network uniting purebred swine enthusiast through a youth organization. Focus: Agricultural economics. Qualif.: Applicants must be a member of the National Junior Swine Association (NJSA). Applicants must be 18-21 years old and enrolled in an agricultural program at a recognized college/university. Criteria: Application will be scored by a committee selected by the NSR Chief Executive Officer and the NSR Director of Junior Activities. The judging committee will determine the winners of the essay contest. Essays will be judged on overall thought process and merit.

Funds Avail.: $1,500 for the first-place and $1,000 For the second-place. To Apply: Applicants may download an application form online. Deadline: May 23. Contact: NSR at the above address (see entry 4970).

National Junior Swine Association Outstanding Member Scholarships (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide a network uniting purebred swine enthusiast through a youth organization. Focus: Agricultural economics. Qualif.: Applicants must be a member of the National Junior Swine Association. Criteria: Applications will be scored by a committee selected by the NSR Chief Executive Officer and the NSR Director of Junior Activities. One NJSA scholarship will be awarded to a student in each of the following age divisions: Intermediate (13-16), Junior (9-12), and Novice (8 and under). Two NJSA scholarships will be awarded to a student in the Senior division (17-21).

Funds Avail.: $200 for novice, $300 junior, $500 intermediate, $1,000 senior. To Apply: Applicants may submit their application to the office together with the other requirements. Deadline: December 1. Contact: NJSA at the above address (see entry 4970).

NJSA Visionary Leader Scholarships (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide a network uniting purebred swine enthusiast through a youth organization. Focus: Agricultural economics. Qualif.: Applicants must be a member of the NJSA Board of Directors. Criteria: Application will be scored by a committee and independently review and score each application received.

Funds Avail.: $500. To Apply: Applications should be typed. Extra pages may be used as necessary. Applications must be signed by a parent or guardian who has knowledge of the applicant’s involvement in the NJSA. Deadline: May 15. Contact: NSR at the above address (see entry 4970).

Claude Robinson Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide a network uniting purebred swine enthusiast through a youth organization. Focus: Agricultural economics. Qualif.: Scholarship applicants must be a sophomore, junior or senior enrolled in a collegiate. Criteria: Each selection committee member shall independently review and score each application received and select the recipient(s) based on the criteria.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. To Apply: Applicant must send in two letters of reference. One letter should be written by their college coach, and the second letter should be written by a non-family member who has knowledge of the applicant’s involvement in the livestock industry. Jason Shipley Memorial Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide a network uniting purebred swine enthusiast through a youth organization. Focus: Agricultural economics. Qualif.: Applicants must be incoming freshman, sophomore or junior enrolled in an agriculturally related field. Criteria: The selection committee member shall independently review and score each application received and select the recipient(s) based on the criteria.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicant must send in two letters of reference. One letter should be written by an athletic coach, and the second letter should be written by a non-family member who has knowledge of the applicant’s involvement in the swine industry.
