The Iranian-American Scholarship Fund (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarships to students of Iranian descent. Focus: Ethnic. Qualif.: Applicants must be of Iranian heritage; Undergraduate (sophomore or above); Graduate (Masters Program or equivalent); GPA 3.5 or above. Criteria: Selection will be based on merit.

Funds Avail.: $1,000-$3,000. To Apply: Applicants may download an application form at Iranian-American Scholarship Fund website. Iranian Artist Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote and facilitate the appreciation of Iranian-American artists. Focus: Fine arts. Qualif.: Applicants must be Iranian or Iranian-American artists living and studying fine arts in the United States. Applicant must be between the ages of 18 and 30. Criteria: Selection is based on eligibility and merit.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. To Apply: Interested applicants must submit the following: a current resume; ten (10) slides labeled with title, size and medium (CD-ROM and video accepted); articles/reviews about applicant’s work or exhibitions; an artist statement about his/her work (500-1000 words); a self-addressed stamped envelope. Iranian Association of Boston’s IAB Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarships to students who are of Iranian descent. Focus: Ethnic. Qualif.: The applicant must not be a relative or close relation of any members of the Scholarship Committee; must have legal immigration status; must be of Iranian descent or have active interest in Iranian culture and heritage; The applicant must be a full-time student of an accredited New England graduate or undergraduate institution in any of the following states: ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, or RI. Criteria: Scholarship is given based on merit; however, student’s financial needs will also be an important consideration for the award.

Funds Avail.: $3,000. To Apply: Applicant may download an application form at the NIAC website. Applicant must complete and submit the application and other requirements. Deadline: February 1. Contact: NIAC at the above address (see entry 4952).

Iranian Federated Women’s Club Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarships to students of Iranian descent. Focus: Ethnic. Qualif.: Open to all students of Iranian descent attending an undergraduate and graduate course. Criteria: Selection will be based on submitted materials and other criteria.

Funds Avail.: $10,000. To Apply: Applicant may download an application form at the Iranian Federated Women’s Club website. Applicant must submit the complete application form and a personal essay describing himself/herself, his/her goals, and his/her qualifications for this scholarship. Applicant must also submit the following: two letters of reference; parent’s tax return (for each tax return you must include IRS Form 4506); official transcript. Deadline: July 21. Momeni Foundation Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarships to students of Iranian descent. Focus: Ethnic. Qualif.: Applicants must be college students and graduating high school seniors of Iranian descent of any citizenry, anywhere in the world. Criteria: Selection will be based on merit.

Funds Avail.: $500-$1,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a resume or list of extra curricular activities, community leadership or voluntarism, membership in clubs or organizations and any other evidence of outstanding achievement; must submit a short narrative describing goals and plans and motivation towards such. National Iranian American Council Fellowships (Graduate, Undergraduate/Fellowship)

Purpose: To provide outstanding Iranian-American college students with internships in political and media organizations. Focus: Political science; Economics; International affairs and relations; Journalism. Qualif.: Applicant must be a college junior, senior, and graduate student who is a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident of Iranian descent. Criteria: Selection process is highly competitive. Applicants are judged on the basis of their academic credentials, demonstrated interest in community and public service, and the ability to fulfill the needs and expectations of the congressional office they will be placed in.

Funds Avail.: Travel expenses covered to and from DC; $500 monthly stipend; $700 monthly towards rent. To Apply: Applicant must submit the following requirements: a completed application form; three letters of recommendation (two academic and one from an employment supervisor); resume; current college transcript; a 500-word essay answering the question: “How has being Iranian-American influenced your decision to pursue a career in public service or journalism?” Deadline: February 15.
