NFPA/PACE Scholarships (Professional Development/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote a global presence for the paralegal profession and leadership in the community. Focus: Paralegal studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be NFPA members; must be eligible to take the PACE exam. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the quality of the essay and financial needs.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must complete the application form; must sign the affidavit; write an essay of no more than four-pages responding to the question “Why is it important to become a PACE Registered Paralegal?” Deadline: July 11. NFPA and Thomson West Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote a global presence for the paralegal profession and leadership in the legal community. Focus: Paralegal studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a part-time or full-time, currently-enrolled student or accepted student in an accredited paralegal education program or college level program with emphasis in paralegal studies. Applicants must demonstrate or maintain at least a “B” average. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on scholastic excellence, participation in campus and paralegal program leadership activities, community service, review of the writing samples, and financial need.

Funds Avail.: $5,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit original and three copies of application form; letter of recommendation from the director of paralegal education program or an employer; a double-spaced essay of required topics (not more than four pages); recent official transcript showing at least a “B” average. High school transcripts are acceptable only if an applicant has not completed a college semester. Deadline: In 2004, deadline was August 4.
